Sound
Digitization is the process of converting analog into digital. For text this often involves encoding characters into binary using ASCII or Unicode so each letter or symbol has a stored value.
For sound, digitization is done by sampling sound waves at multiple points per second and converting this into binary numbers. Higher sampling rates and bit depth can improve the sound quality because greater detail in incorporated in the process. Lower compression and file sizes can make system more efficient but lower the audio quality or remove essential sound detail.
